Melissa Clayton

Melissa just joined Highlands Vista Group in April 2026. She is responsible for the Asset Management, Property Management, and Acquisitions teams.  Prior to joining Highlands Vista Group, Melissa held the role of Senior Vice President of National Portfolio Management at Mercy Housing, Inc., the nation’s largest non-profit owner, and developer of affordable housing. During her 13-year tenure, she managed a $4.9 billion real estate portfolio comprising of 360 properties and 600,000 square feet of commercial space and led efforts in asset management, transactions (refinances, LIHTC development, restructures, acquisitions, limited partner exits and dispositions), construction management, multifamily insurance, and environmental sustainability.

Her responsibilities encompassed asset management, property management, LIHTC syndications, investor relations, workouts, lease-ups, and financial restructuring.  Melissa holds ARM and CPM designations from the Institute of Real Estate Management as well as HCCP and C3P LIHTC designations.  She attended the University of Houston and graduated from the University of Missouri Dale Caregie Real Estate Leadership Program. 

When not a work, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family, hiking with her Golden Retriever, and traveling.
